Having dry skin is very common in most people. Dry skin condition happens because of many causes. It mainly happens because of environmental factors that remove moisture from people’s skin. Dry skin also occurs because of harsh soaps, hot showers, heat, certain medical conditions, aging, and frequent bathing. And those who live in cold weather can face this dry skin problem because of dry winter air.Â
There are many inexpensive and simple ways that you can do to get relief from dry skin in winters. To remove or maintain moisture in your skin, you can do many things to keep your skin smooth and healthy. Â
Use Coconut Oil
Coconut oil works very effectively on dry skin to treat it well. Studies have proven that it is as successful and safe as petroleum jelly for dealing with dry skin. It has emollient properties that can fill space between skin cells and create a smooth surface. In addition, coconut oil improves skin hydration in your body and increases the number of fats on your skin surface. You can apply coconut oil daily on your body parts that become dry. You can also put it around your mouth and underneath your eyes. Another advantage is that you do not need to mix anything while applying; it is gentle enough to use every day.Â
Moisturize Daily
To keep your skin smooth and healthy in winters, apply moisturizer daily. Moisturizers can hydrate the top layer of skin cells, cover the skin, and help to keep water from escaping. To keep your skin smooth the whole day, apply moisturizer many times a day, especially after bathing and washing your hands and face. Always use thicker moisturizers to get the best results and use moisture-containing cosmetics products in winters. If your skin is dehydrated, then apply oil on your skin because oil has more power than moisturizers to prevent water evaporation from your skin. In addition, lotions, ointments, and cream help you keep moisture in the skin. To keep the dry skin away from you, start applying moisturizer to keep moisture in your skin at the start of winter.Â
Drink Milk
Milk is also an effective ingredient for keeping dry skin away from you. But drinking the milk is much better than applying it to your skin, so try to add milk to your diet. In addition, studies have proven that the fat (phospholipids) contained in milk improved skin barriers.Â
Apply Petroleum Jelly
Petroleum jelly products can heal older adults’ skin very well and cover them in a protective layer. You can use it on dry, itchy, and red skin.Â
Use Warm Water And Limit Your Bath
Use steam or warm water for bathing but never use hot water because it increases the problem of dry skin. The hot water and extended bathing remove natural oil from the skin, which helps to keep the skin moisturized, so make sure to limit your bath time.Â
Avoid Harsh Cleaning Products
It would be best if you used a fragrance-free cleanser, gentle skin cleanser, and cleansing creams in winter during bath. You can also use shower gels which moisturize. Choose soaps that have fats and oils. And avoid those cleaning products like antibacterial detergents, alcohol, fragrance, and deodorants soaps.
