Whether you have curly, blonde, or straight hair, all that makes the difference is the products made for your hair type. You can find plenty of hair products in the market. Let’s discuss the primary product that is shampoo. The shampoo cleans your hair and provides you with the elements needed for a good hair day. There are many types of shampoo. The six major types are volumizing, clarifying, curl defining, strengthening, brightening, and dandruff fighting.

So in this article, we will discuss the purpose of different types of shampoos and how you can choose a shampoo for your hair type.

For Dry Hair Types

If your scalp is dry and has dandruff, you must go for dandruff fighting or daily gentle shampoos. Dandruff is an itchy, scaly condition where you can see flakes in your hair created by clumps of skins coming together. Shampoos that fight dandruff and prevent itching, flaking, and scaling the scalp are called gentle shampoos for dandruff fighting. All you need to do is wash your hair with any mild shampoo and leave the shampoo on your scalp for three to five minutes.

People with dry types of hair are prone to dandruff. It can also be from other factors like a reaction to any hair product,  a yeast-like fungus, or an oily scalp. Regular use of anti-dandruff shampoos will help your scalp to stay balanced and comfortable. It will help in deep penetration and treatment of dandruff. Some of the ingredients included in an anti-dandruff shampoo are:

    • Salicylic Acid: An active ingredient helping in the removal of scales and scale buildup.
    • Coal Tar: Reduces redness, irritation, and inflammation.
    • Selenium Sulfide: Targets yeast and fights dandruff.
    • Zinc Pyrithione: Antifungal and targets dead skin cells.
    • Ketoconazole: Fungicide and treats yeast infection on the scalp.

For Curly Hair Types

Curl-defining shampoo is for curly hair types. People with curly hair mainly suffer from frizz and dryness. So to lock the hydration, you need to use shampoos free from sulfates because sulfates make the hair dry and frizzy by stripping off natural oils. These products help you in tightening, sculpting, smoothening, and defining your curls. They do not hinder the natural texture and body; instead, they work by taming frizz to enhance the look and make it easier for you to style. These shampoos won’t give you new curls but will help you get shinier and easily manageable curly hairs.

For Fine Hair Types

Is your hair flat, lifeless, and limp? Don’t worry; you can give life to your fine hairs by using volumizing shampoos. A volumizing shampoo cleans your hair, brings life back to them, and makes it bouncy and light. Select the shampoos with fewer ingredients that weigh down the hair. You can shampoo your fine hair with volumizing shampoo every other day.

The main aim of these shampoos is to make your hair look more fuller. Therefore they contain lightweight ingredients. These ingredients also help in locking the moisture.
